Our contribution on COVID-19Since the outbreak of pandemic, we have been active in the research on COVID-19 focusing on two areas: (1) Wastewater-based epidemiology (WBE, also known as wastewater surveillance) for early warning of pandemic; (2) new rapid testing kits for both clinical diagnosis and on-site wastewater surveillance.
We have a new paper-based device for rapid and on-site detection on SARS-CoV-2 in wastewater at the lab scale built upon our track record on the field testing of infectious in India and Malaria in Uganda in Africa. We are now carrying out the field trial to provide a tool for rapid diagnosis of individual and mapping hotspots with an ambition from neighbourhood to community, regional and national level.
